Watercolor by Signe Carlgren (married Lindquist) who was born in 1897 in Lövånger. It was originally a sketch for her porcelain paintings, an art form she devoted herself to for many years. Now her sketches are lifted out of the chest of drawers after several decades of dormancy.
Signe was inspired by illustrations in Nordens Flora by Carl Lindman (1856-1928), with first edition 1901-1905. Botanical illustration is a genre that is often traded from publishers that go back a long way.
Linnaea Borealis was Carl von Linné's favorite flower. Linnea has a symbolic meaning in Nordic folklore and literature and is often regarded as a symbol of love, humility and perseverance.
To date, the tray has only been printed in 25 copies.
